Aims & Objectives
The Marlow Society was formed in 1960, originating from the Marlow Bridge Preservation Committee.
We are a registered charity whose aim today is the preservation and development of Marlow and the surrounding areas of Bisham, Great Marlow, Little Marlow, Marlow Town and Medmenham, the villages within our area and the surrounding countryside, which lies within the foothills of the Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We seek to represent all those who live and work in the area, or who shop with and visit us.
The Society is well recognised by the authorities and is invited to participate in long- term planning for the town and surrounding area. We also have links with many other societies and organisations, both locally and nationally.
We and our History and Walks Groups organise talks, exhibitions and local walks, as well as social events. We also have a fine collection of archive photographs.
We work with our neighbourhood schools to encourage students to enjoy, appreciate and conserve their history and environment. To this end we support Young Enterprise with an annual award.
Our aims are: To protect, improve and promote the environment and features of historic value and interest in:
- Marlow Town
- Great Marlow
- Little Marlow
- Bisham
- Medmenham
