A top secret US communication station known by its codename 'Station VICTOR' was constructed and operated within the parish by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner to the CIA. Between 1943 & 1945 Station VICTOR became an essential communication link between "Secret agents" working in Nazi occupied Europe and the Allied High Command
