Past Events - Ockwells Manor
"the most refined and the most sophisticated timber framed mansion in England" Nicolas Pevsner
Ockwells Manor House at Bray was built by John Norreys Esquire in the mid 15th century and has amazingly survived to today.
We shall see what Norreys built, including the magnificent armorial glass he put up in the great hall, and hear of the threats to the house's existence, and how it has been changed by different owners to continue to function as a home, not a museum.
Ann Darracott is a member of Maidenhead Civic Society who has been exploring the history of the house for many years, and has had unparalleled access to it.
